Protect your videos
A video lesson plays a video that lives on another site, like Vimeo or YouTube. If that video is public, or unlisted, its link works for anyone who has it, whether or not they are enrolled in your course. Limiting where the video is allowed to play is the best protection Cedarras can use today. Cedarras can't check a video's privacy setting, so this is up to you.
Vimeo: allow only your domains
Vimeo can limit a video to the websites you name. In Vimeo, open the video's settings, find Privacy, and set Where can this be embedded? to Specific domains. Then add:
- app.cedarras.com
- every custom domain you use for your courses, if you have any
When you enter a Vimeo link in a lesson, the lesson editor lists the exact domains for your account, each with a button that copies it.
YouTube: can't be limited
YouTube doesn't let you restrict a video to certain websites. An unlisted link is hidden, not protected: anyone who is sent the link can watch it. If your course is paid, consider Vimeo with domain restriction instead. The lesson editor shows a warning when you enter a YouTube link.
Descript and Mux
Descript and Mux have their own privacy options. Check each provider's settings for the video before you use it in a paid course.
