Where Thinkific is ahead
Thinkific hosts your video on every plan. It runs its own checkout, and offers to collect and file US and Canadian sales tax for a fee. Cedarras does neither. With Cedarras, your videos stay on YouTube or Vimeo, and your sales go through Kit.
Common questions
Does Thinkific work with Kit?
Yes, one way. Thinkific's Kit app adds students to Kit, tags them by course, and keeps a course-progress field up to date. To let a Kit tag enroll someone, you need Zapier and Thinkific's Grow plan.
Is Cedarras cheaper than Thinkific?
Yes. Cedarras starts free, and paid plans start at $29 a month. Thinkific starts at $109 a month, with no free plan. With Cedarras you also pay for Kit. If you already use Kit, that's a bill you have anyway. And Kit does have a free plan!
Can Cedarras do everything Thinkific does?
No. Cedarras doesn't host video (you use YouTube or Vimeo for your videos), and it has no checkout or community of its own. It does courses on top of Kit, and does that well.
Can I move my courses from Thinkific?
Not automatically. You rebuild each course in Cedarras. If you connect an AI assistant (Creator Pro and up), you can use AI to do much of the typing for you.
